The best Picatinny rails for Remington 700 style actions

Until the late ’90s, there was no real mounting standard that was internationally the same. Many manufacturers had their own mounting solution, and many adopted the 2-piece Weaver rail as the mounting solution for their rifles. Because in some cases the rails weren’t 100% in-line, there was some stress on the optic after mounting. This led to malfunctions and internal damage to the optics. Later on, the manufacturers come out with a single-piece design, which removed these errors. Because the U.S. Army wasn’t satisfied with the products already on the market, they put together a team which should develop a better mounting solution for all kind of optics and accessories. After measuring many Weaver rails, they came up with a drawing with average dimensions. After the production of the first rail, it was shipped to Rock Island Arsenal, which is the headquarters of the U.S. Army, where the rail was…

Top 10 CQB rifle scopes of 2018 In this review, I want to present you the top 10 CQB (Close Quarter Battle) rifle scopes, which I sorted depending on their features, build quality, weight differences, and some other special features that are unique in some rifle scopes. In this representation are only tactical wide-angle rifle scopes that were designed for close quarter combat and similar scenarios, where units have to engage targets in buildings or vehicles. Because of the short distance, the magnification has to be very small, and that’s why all have the minimum magnification of only 1x, or some models 1.1x. Sometimes the units have to engage targets also on longer distances, so the bigger the maximal magnification the better. All rifle scopes except one in my top 10 list have the maximal magnification of 8 times, what is plenty to engage targets to even 600 meters or…

Tactical rifle scopes are mostly used by the military, police, or other special forces around the globe. In this comparison, we have 15 of the best tactical rifle scopes that are currently on the market, and all have to be in MIL/MIL configurations since these are mostly used by professionals. For all newcomers in the world of sports optics, there are 2 different options in what subtensions the rifle scope ˝clicks˝. The most rifle scopes on the market have clicks in MOA, but true tactical and the most European rifle scopes have clicks in MILs. MIL stands for Miliradian which is an angular measurement, but on rifle scopes, the clicks are counted in 0.1 of a MIL. One click on a rifle scope with 0.1 MIL clicks is always 1 centimeter on 100 meters, or 0.9144 centimeters on 100 yards. Because the clicks are exact 1 centimeter, it is much…

Stalking is a hunting method, where a hunter has to sneak up to the animal. In this way, we made some tests of high-end hunting rifle scopes for stalking. Because of physical challenge in stalking hunting, small and light equipment helps a lot. I mean it’s not necessary, you can use bulky and heavy rifle scopes, but with them, you will have problems getting through the woods and you will be more tired than with smaller and lighter rifle scopes. Stalking is also done many times in the mountains. A must in this category are capped turrets. When crawling in the woods through the branches and bushes, caps are protecting the turrets and also preventing from accidental turns. Also, the objective lens diameter of these rifle scopes is smaller than usual, from 32 to 44 mm and 1 inch or 30 mm tube or rail mounting. For stalking purpose those…

We made some tests of high-end hunting wide angle rifle scopes and compared all the main features. These rifle scopes have true 1x power for hunting with both eyes open, (except the Zeiss Victory V8 1.1-8×30) an easily usable reticle with a very strong illumination that is usable at day-light by strong sun, or even at snow where the visibility of the red dot is challenging. Also, a big field of view is a must in this category of rifle scopes, because in most cases the game is running and with a small field of view there would be very difficult to come on the target in that short time. All rifle scopes in this comparison have variable magnification, with a zoom range from 5x till 8x. Except for the Zeiss Victory V8, all rifle scopes have a main tube diameter of 30mm (Zeiss 36mm), and most of them can…
